Our hiring process
While steps may vary by role, most candidates can expect the following steps.
Applying
Review our open positions listed and submit your application online.
If you were referred by a current Associate, please answer “How did you hear about us?” by selecting Connection in the drop-down list and adding the Associate’s name. This is how we recognize the referral.
Application review
Every application is reviewed by one of our Recruiters. We do not use keyword filters or AI screening.
Introductory call with a Recruiter or video interview
If you applied for a Direct Labor Production role, your first step will be a recorded video interview to answer a few intake questions on your mobile device at a time that’s convenient for you.
For all other roles, if your application is selected to move forward, you will first meet with a Recruiter. This initial call helps us learn more about your background, interests, and career goals, while giving you the opportunity to ask questions and learn about Hypertherm Associates, our culture, and the role.
A role‑focused discussion
Depending on the position, you may meet with a hiring leader or subject matter expert to talk more deeply about the work, expectations, and how success is defined in the role.
Interviews
Following your introductory call and more technical role discussion, further interviews would be with internal stakeholders and potential teammates through phone, video, or onsite conversations. Each interviewer focuses on different aspects of the role.
How to prepare for interviewsAssessments for some roles
Certain Production roles may include assessments completed at your convenience. Your Recruiter will guide you through each step, so you know what to expect.
Offers and feedback
If you receive an offer, your Recruiter will review the details with you and share everything through your Workday candidate portal.
If you’re not selected, we’ll let you know promptly and respectfully. Timelines can vary, but we aim to keep candidates informed throughout the process.
Onboarding
Once you accept an offer, your onboarding team will support you through pre‑boarding, paperwork, and relocation (if applicable). You’ll participate in an onboarding and cultural immersion experience designed to help you feel welcomed, connected, and confident from day one.

Accessibility and support
We’re committed to providing an inclusive hiring experience and want every candidate to feel supported throughout the process. If you need a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process, please contact jobs@hypertherm.com. We’re happy to work with you and ensure you’re set up for success.
